The Family Welfare Authority obtains international accreditation for "Halfway houses"

Abu Dhabi, 19 November / WAM / The “Halfway Homes” Center, affiliated with the Family Welfare Authority, has received distinguished international accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), the most prominent global body specialized in evaluating the quality of rehabilitation, integration and recovery services, in an unprecedented achievement.

Halfway Homes is the first community reintegration center in the region to achieve this global distinction for a full three years.

With this achievement, Halfway Homes is among the 3% of rehabilitation facilities around the world that have obtained CARF accreditation without any recommendations, which confirms the leadership position of the Family Welfare Authority in accrediting and developing an integrated rehabilitation system that takes into account the highest standards of quality, safety, and care based on the best standards. This accreditation also embodies the Authority’s commitment to providing services that focus on the individual and the family, and support sustainable recovery and positive integration into society.

Her Excellency Salama Ajlan Al Amimi, Director General of the Family Welfare Authority, said that “Halfway Homes” aims to build a bridge between the stages of recovery and integration, and to create a safe space through which individuals can regain confidence and belonging to their community and families, noting that rehabilitation is not complete with the completion of treatment, but rather it is a journey to restore life and strengthen family ties.

She added that this accreditation confirms that we are moving in the right direction, and that our programs keep pace with the highest international standards, which consolidates the position of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi as a global model in empowering communities by supporting recovery paths, building hope, and promoting sustainable well-being.

Dr. Alia Al Jasmi, Director of the Care Homes Department at the Family Care Authority, said that “Halfway Homes” obtaining this accreditation is an exceptional achievement, and comes as a result of the commitment of all employees, partners, and leadership of the Family Care Authority to standards of excellence and professionalism, which has made the center a pioneer in the field of community recovery and reintegration.

Halfway Homes are a major pillar of the community reintegration and care system in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, as they provide a safe environment for individuals recovering from addiction disorders or behavioral challenges, and work to empower them through integrated programs that include psychological and social counselling, vocational training, and family support.

Since its establishment in 2023, “Halfway Homes” has contributed to enabling its residents to rebuild their lives, enhance their social skills, and restore their family and community stability.
