"Knowledge Summit 2025".. 10 years of achievements have established knowledge markets that enhance the economy of the future

Dubai, 19 November / WAM / A number of senior officials and experts participating in the Knowledge Summit 2025 confirmed that the summit, which is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its launch, has become a leading global platform for consolidating the concepts of knowledge, supporting the paths of its production and localization in the Arab region, and launching specific initiatives that contributed to enhancing knowledge sustainability and economic development in the Arab countries.
His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, Executive Director of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, in a statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, on the sidelines of the activities of the Knowledge Summit, which began today at the Dubai World Trade Center, praised the pivotal role that the summit has played since 2014 in spreading awareness of the importance of knowledge in the Arab world, noting that the Arab countries were not addressing the issue of knowledge in their strategies before the launch of the summit, while today they rely on it as a major element in their development plans.
His Excellency stressed that the Global Knowledge Index and the Arab Knowledge Report have established a new approach among Arab governments, indicating that the coming years will focus on transforming knowledge into direct economic value that contributes to enhancing the sustainability of Arab economies.
He said that the UAE’s experience, which has reached global levels in knowledge production, research and development, represents a model that Arab countries can benefit from, stressing that without knowledge it is not possible to build a sustainable economy or a productive society.
For his part, Dr. Hani Turki, Chief Technical Advisor and Director of the Knowledge Project at the United Nations Development Programme, explained that the partnership between the program and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation has contributed over the past years to launching qualitative initiatives, most notably the Future Skills Academy, which is concerned with digital knowledge and raising the skills of youth inside and outside the Arab region.
Turki pointed out that the academy today includes more than 25,000 learners, most of whom are young people who have developed their skills and a number of whom have started new projects, adding that the Global Knowledge Index, which this year evaluated 195 countries, does not aim to rank countries as much as it works to identify strengths and knowledge gaps and transfer successful experiences between countries through “knowledge markets,” which is the focus of this year’s summit.
He said that developing and localizing knowledge in Arab countries enhances economic diversification, increases productivity and competitiveness, and enables young people to actively participate in building an advanced knowledge economy.
For his part, George Al-Zakhem, an expert on future mobility in the Emirates, said that the Knowledge Summit in its tenth edition reflected an important shift towards a deeper understanding of knowledge markets, especially in future sectors such as smart mobility, pointing out that knowledge has become an essential part of the modern transportation system in the Emirates.
He stressed that systems based on data and artificial intelligence are contributing to reducing traffic congestion by providing multiple and smart mobility solutions, in addition to communication systems between vehicles and infrastructure that provide real-time information to drivers about the condition of roads and congestions, which supports building a knowledge-based economy.
