The Head of State and the Finnish President discuss cooperation relations between the two countries

Abu Dhabi, 21 November / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and His Excellency Alexander Stubb, President of the Republic of Finland, discussed cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen their paths in various fields, especially economic and development, in a way that serves their common interests and brings good to their people.

During the meeting that took place at the Beach Palace in Abu Dhabi, His Highness the President welcomed the Finnish President, who is making an official visit to the country, wishing Finland and its people continued progress and prosperity.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed areas of cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and Finland, particularly economy, trade, education, technology, space, innovation, and other areas that serve common development.

The two sides also touched on a number of regional and international issues of common concern and exchanged views on them, stressing the keenness of the two countries to support international efforts aimed at consolidating peace and stability in the world through dialogue and diplomatic solutions.

His Highness the President of the State stressed the UAE’s keenness to continue building on what has been achieved in the course of the two countries’ relations, especially their cooperation in sectors that constitute a common development priority. He is looking forward that the visit will contribute to exploring new horizons for growth and prosperity, especially as it comes with the two countries celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between them.

His Highness added that the negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement and the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the UAE and the European Union represent a pivotal step in enhancing bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the UAE and Finland.

For his part, His Excellency Alexander Staub expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness the President of the State for the warm reception, stressing that his country looks forward to expanding its economic and commercial cooperation with the UAE in areas that serve sustainable development, pointing to the continuous development witnessed by the relations of the two countries.

The two sides also affirmed their keenness to continue working to advance Emirati-Finnish relations towards broader horizons of joint cooperation and to invest all available opportunities in the course of their relations in order to achieve the aspirations of the peoples of the two countries for progress and prosperity and to work for peace, stability and development in the world.

The meeting was attended by: His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chief of the Presidential Office for Special Affairs, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor to His Highness the President of the State, and a number of Their Excellencies ministers and senior state officials.
