المملكة: It identifies 155 species.. The National Afforestation Program adopts the “yard” botanical identity

This expanded list comes to cover the diverse terrain of Al-Baha, starting from the high heights and deep valleys, all the way to the slopes and coastal plains of “Tihama” and the Nafud deserts.
Investing in environmental diversity
Through this precise identification, the program aims to invest in the unique environmental diversity of the region, to ensure the success of afforestation projects and raise the survival rates of seedlings, in line with the objectives of the “Saudi Green Initiative”.The selected list included the most famous trees that constitute the visual and environmental identity of the courtyard, most notably the sidr, eastern almond, juniper, and wild olive, which are natural icons of the region.
The approved species also included aromatic, aesthetic, and shady plants, such as The dahram, wild jasmine, alban, and Najdi acacia, which enhance the aesthetic aspects in addition to the environmental benefits.
The program explained that these plants belong to ancient and diverse plant species, most notably the cypress, rhododendron, olive, and leguminous species, which reflects the biological richness of the Kingdom’s lands.
The nominations covered all the microenvironments in the region, including plants that grow in rocky crevices, and those that flourish in Kindergartens and flood drains, to ensure comprehensive green cover.
Climate adaptation
The program focuses exclusively on “local plants”; Due to its high ability to adapt to Climatic conditions, its low water consumption, and its resistance to pests, compared to imported species. This step contributes to directing individual and institutional efforts towards correct agriculture, which limits land degradation and restores the environmental balance of the natural system in the southwestern part of the Kingdom.
These moves are part of a broader movement led by the program to lead the “green era” and establish a culture of sustainable afforestation that achieves the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. In protecting the environment and natural resources.
