Controversy rages after the coronation of Miss Universe 2025.. What is the story?

The Miss Universe 2025 competition did not end with the announcement of the winner, Fatima Bush from Mexico, as the controversy escalated after provocative statements made by Omar Harfouche, the Lebanese-French composer and former judge on the jury, who resigned hours before the finals.

Harfouch accused Raul Rocha, the owner of the pageant, of rigging the results in favor of Miss Mexico, claiming that Bosch’s win was “fictitious” and linked to business deals linking Rocha with the contestant’s father. He also posted a video in which he said he recorded conversations during a meeting showing Rocha agreeing to give the title to the Mexican for the benefit of his business.

Raul Rocha responded in a video statement, confirming that he was the one who removed Harfouche from the judging panel, and that his accusations threaten the competition’s official charitable initiative. He also published text messages between him and Harfouche warning against any irresponsible statements.

For its part, the Miss Universe Organization denied all allegations, stressing that the jury followed clear and documented protocols, and announced that Harfouche was prohibited from using the trademark or appearing as a representative of the competition.

The seventy-fourth edition of the competition was held in Thailand on November 21, 2025, making Fatima Bush the fourth Mexican woman to win the title, while the audience awaits the “full story behind the scenes” show on HBO in May 2026, as promised by Harfouche. (Fuchsia)
