The Hatta Region Development Committee announces the completion and implementation of a package of development projects to enhance the quality of life

DUBAI, 23rd November / WAM / The Supreme Committee to Supervise the Development of the Hatta Region, headed by His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, completed a package of development projects in the region, which included the implementation of the Hatta Dam runway project, with a length of 610 metres, a school with integrated facilities, and a model residence in the Makan area, and the construction of a new 15-kilometre mountain bike track, a new 10-kilometre mountain hiking trail, and the development of… Three farms: strawberry farm, Hatta Farm, and leaf farm, in addition to developing traffic solutions in the Hatta area.

The implementation of the projects comes within the framework of the comprehensive plan to develop the Hatta region, to improve the quality of life, develop services for the residents and visitors of the region, develop the projects, initiatives, programs, activities and events held, and enhance the social, economic and educational capabilities therein, in a way that contributes to improving the quality of life for the residents and visitors of the region, and providing unique tourism services in Hatta, so that the region becomes a tourist destination throughout the year.

The length of the Hatta Dam runway is 610 metres, and it allows the residents and visitors of the area to climb to the top of the dam easily and smoothly. Six breaks have been allocated distributed along the runway, and its height reaches 37 meters from the bottom of the runway. It takes 17 minutes to reach the top of the runway, and provides its visitors with an exceptional journey in reaching the top of the dam, enjoying the view of the dam, and the recreational activities available, such as kayaking.

The runway was created to be an innovative means of access, and the slope was designed with appropriate incline ratios to ensure everyone’s comfort and their arrival to the top of the dam in a safe and comfortable manner. Its implementation took into account meeting the requirements of people of determination and preserving the nature of the area and the environment, through the use of runway suspension techniques, to avoid backfilling works, in a way that preserves the natural environment of the area, as well as using the urban guide for the Hatta region, where the architectural style and materials used were chosen to suit the local character of the area.

It was also taken into account to provide integrated services for visitors in the Al Sadd area, as the runway is integrated with the transportation center located near the beginning of the runway, which provides a comfortable and easy journey for users to reach the runway. The Hatta Falls area can also be reached through a path linking the start of the runway (below the runway), with the sustainable Hatta Falls, a project implemented by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, where the slope of the dam was used to create a mosaic mural bearing the image of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, And Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, may God bless them both. It is considered the largest in the world as it consists of more than 1.2 million pieces of natural marble, while the waterfall descends to form a water channel, on its banks are spread many retail stores, restaurants and cafes.

The projects completed to serve the residents of the region included the establishment of a school in accordance with the latest international designs and standards, which constitutes an integrated educational complex under one roof, to provide distinguished educational services to the residents of the region. The school was built on an area of 18,600 square meters, and can accommodate more than 1,000 students. It includes 44 classrooms, educational laboratories, gymnasiums, and outdoor playgrounds with an area of 4,700 square meters, and a multi-use theater with a capacity of 416 seats, including four seats. Designed for people of determination, the school also includes a kindergarten section and a medical clinic.

The school provides parking for 14 school buses and 52 cars, including four designated parking spaces for electric cars, which shows the trend towards smart and sustainable infrastructure. The school relies on environmentally friendly solutions by installing 474 solar panels with an electricity generation capacity of up to 280 kilowatts, achieving an annual benefit of up to 160 thousand dirhams in the best climatic conditions, in addition to adopting a set of sustainable solutions such as water taps that operate with sensors to reduce waste, and energy water heating systems. Solar, and the use of thermal insulation on building facades to improve air conditioning efficiency and reduce energy consumption.

The committee also completed the maintenance of four schools: Hatta School 1, Hatta School 2, Rashid Bin Saeed School, and Al Dhahra School. The maintenance work included renovating science laboratories and classrooms, renovating floors and bathrooms, constructing indoor and outdoor sports fields, replacing energy-efficient LED lighting with previous lighting, maintaining and replacing air conditioning and irrigation systems, installing a building management system (BMS), and adding canopies and parking for cars and school buses.

The completed projects included the development of three farms in the Hatta region. The three farms are: the strawberry farm, the Hatta Farm farm, and the leaf farm, as part of the efforts aimed at enhancing food security and the sustainability of the agricultural sector, where modern agricultural techniques were introduced and production efficiency was improved.

The strawberry farm development project included increasing the outdoor area allocated for agriculture, and strengthening the agricultural house, by increasing the number of strawberry seedlings by adopting innovative hierarchical cultivation systems, using hydroponic systems. The development work also included improving the cooling efficiency, adding new units, and constructing a building dedicated to seed nursery, which contributes to enhancing the agricultural production cycle.

As for Al-Wariqiyat Farm, three agricultural houses were established that operate with the hydroponic system, and integrated facilities were constructed that include storage buildings and specialized training facilities to develop the capabilities of agricultural and technical personnel, in addition to a direct sales store that allows consumers to obtain fresh products from the farm.

The Hatta Farm development work included establishing agricultural houses based on hydroponic technology, with the use of smart systems to manage agricultural crops, to enhance operational efficiency and raise the quality of crops.

As part of the committee’s keenness to enhance social communication for the residents of the region, the Hatta Council project is currently being implemented, which can accommodate 130 people, to be a forum for the residents of the region, with the aim of enhancing communication between the people of the region. The council includes a multi-use main hall, service facilities, administrative offices, etc., in addition to the establishment of a wedding hall that can accommodate 1,000 people, and the project to implement the Hatta Service Centre, which provides a range of services to residents in the Makan area. The building is located on an area 2000 square meters, and includes 13 commercial units. Work is also underway to implement 213 housing units for citizens in the Makan area, and to design a model residential neighborhood for citizens.

Development projects in the Hatta region include expanding the implementation of bicycle paths, and among the projects currently being implemented are the Hatta Hospital development project, the Hatta Sports Club, and the maintenance of dams in the region.
