Trump criticizes Ukraine’s “lack of gratitude” to America as talks begin in Switzerland

US President Donald Trump on Sunday renewed his accusation that Ukraine showed “lack of gratitude” to the United States for the support it has provided to it since the start of the Russian war, with the launch of talks in Switzerland between representatives of Washington and Kiev to discuss his plan to end the war.
Trump wrote on his platform, Truth Social, that “the Ukrainian leadership did not express any gratitude for our efforts,” again denouncing the “humanitarian catastrophe” caused by the war that broke out four years ago, while criticizing his predecessor, Joe Biden, under whose watch the war began, without condemning Moscow.
The US President continued, “I inherited a war that should never have happened and is a loser for everyone.”
He added, “Ukrainian officials did not express any gratitude for our efforts, and Europe continues to buy oil from Russia.”
Trump pointed out that “the United States continues to sell massive amounts of weapons to NATO to supply Ukraine (Corrupt Joe gave everything for free, free, free, including large sums of money!).”
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is scheduled to meet on Sunday in Geneva with a Ukrainian delegation in an effort to advance Donald Trump’s plan to end the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
Trump’s 28-item plan, which the US administration now describes as a “framework for negotiations” after the US President indicated that it is not a final offer, aims to put an end to the conflict that has been ongoing for nearly four years when Russia began the Ukraine war in February 2022.
However, the plan raises concerns in Kyiv and the European Union that it may constitute a gateway to Ukraine’s surrender.
