Sheikha Shamma and Princess Dana discuss the role of culture and heritage in building a sustainable future
ABU DHABI, 23rd November / WAM / Today, Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan received at Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Palace in Abu Dhabi, today, Her Highness Princess Dana Firas, President of the National Society for the Preservation of Petra and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Cultural Heritage, in a meeting that reflects the keenness of both sides to enhance cultural communication between third sector institutions in the Emirates and Jordan, expand areas of cooperation in protecting tangible and intangible heritage, and establish awareness of its importance. For future generations.
Sheikha Shamma welcomed Princess Dana’s visit, praising her efforts to preserve Jordanian heritage, especially the city of Petra, stressing the importance of joint Arab action in protecting historical sites and preserving cultural memory.
For her part, Princess Dana expressed her appreciation for Sheikha Shamma’s contributions to the Emirati cultural movement through Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan’s cultural and educational institutions and the initiatives she provides in education, reading, environmental awareness, and the empowerment of women and youth.
The meeting included a dialogue session in which an elite group of Emirati women participated, which discussed the inspiring leadership experiences of Sheikha Shamma and Princess Dana, and the role of Arab women in making an impact and enhancing the presence of culture as a driving force for development, while emphasizing the importance of involving young people in carrying the message of heritage in modern ways.
The two sides also exchanged insights about identity in a changing world and the role of Arab women in shaping a more sustainable and equitable future, with an eye toward developing joint cultural and societal projects.
On the sidelines of the visit, Sheikha Shamma and Princess Dana attended part of the women’s tennis tournament in its fourteenth session, hosted by Sheikha Sheikha bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan.
