The Brotherhood will be classified as a “foreign terrorist organization”

US President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he is preparing to classify the Muslim Brotherhood as a “foreign terrorist organization.” Trump told Just the News that this “will be done in the strongest and strongest terms, and the final documents are currently being prepared.” The president’s announcement came a few days after Just the News published a lengthy investigation into the activities of the Muslim Brotherhood and growing concerns within the Trump administration.

Last week, Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott designated the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations asCAIR) as “foreign terrorist organizations and transnational criminal organizations.”

Republicans in the House of Representatives and Senate, along with some Democrats, demanded that the State Department designate the Brotherhood as a foreign terrorist organization.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio indicated in August that designating the Brotherhood as a foreign terrorist organization was “in preparation,” but it is a long and delicate process, especially with the presence of many Brotherhood-affiliated branches that must be examined separately.

Last Tuesday, the Governor of Texas revealed that he had designated both the Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations CAIRas foreign terrorist organizations, something the Trump administration has not yet done.

Abbott said: “The Brotherhood and CAIR set their goals long ago: to forcefully impose Sharia law and establish ‘Islamic world hegemony.’ The actions taken by both groups to support terrorism globally and undermine our laws with violence, threats and harassment are unacceptable.”

He added: “Today, I have designated the Brotherhood and CAIR as foreign terrorist organizations and transnational criminal organizations. These extremists have no place in our state, and they are now prohibited from owning any property in Texas.”

His office announced that he had directed the Texas Department of Public Safety to “open criminal investigations” against CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood, targeting terrorist activities, violence, intimidation, and harassment, as well as illegally imposing Sharia law.

In July, Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz and others introduced a bill to designate the Brotherhood as a foreign terrorist organization, noting the connection of one of the Brotherhood’s branches, Hamas, to the October 7 massacre that killed at least 53 Americans.

Representatives Mario Diaz-Balart and Jared Moskowitz reintroduced the draft law “Classifying the Muslim Brotherhood as a Terrorist Organization” for the year 2025, considering that the Brotherhood and its subsidiary organizations pose a threat to American national security, and exploit American funds and Western systems to promote violence and instability.
