Cooperation between "Ajman transportation" And the General Civil Aviation Authority to launch the flexible system for urban air mobility in the emirate

Ajman, 24 November / WAM / The Ajman Transport Authority and the General Civil Aviation Authority signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in launching and developing the flexible system for advanced urban air mobility in the Emirate of Ajman, during the activities of the Dubai Airshow 2025, in a strategic step that enhances the emirate’s readiness to shift towards the future of advanced air transport and keep pace with global trends in the field of urban aviation.

The new system aims to determine air routes for urban aviation in coordination with air navigation service providers, in addition to studying the most suitable locations for establishing hybrid airstrips and providing the necessary technical infrastructure to receive and operate advanced air transport systems.

The system also includes preparing a comprehensive strategy for advanced air transport that includes qualifying human competencies to support operations, and developing the necessary electronic systems to ensure integration and efficiency in implementation.

His Excellency Omar Mohammed Lootah, Director General of the Ajman Transport Authority, said that the signing of this memorandum comes within the framework of the Authority’s vision to build an integrated and smart transportation system that keeps pace with global developments. He added that the launch of the system represents a qualitative shift in the future of transportation in the emirate, and reflects the commitment to adopting innovative solutions that enhance the quality of life and provide more efficient and smart transportation options.

He stated that, in cooperation with the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the Authority is working to create an integrated environment that supports this transformation and places Ajman at the forefront of pioneering cities in urban air transport technologies.

He stressed that this system is a pivotal step towards supporting the Ajman Vision 2030 and achieving a more flexible and sustainable transportation system, noting that the continued cooperation between the two sides will contribute to developing an advanced infrastructure that supports the future of air transportation and provides a modern and safe transportation experience for the community.

For his part, His Excellency Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, confirmed that the signing of the memorandum of understanding with the Ajman Transport Authority is a successful model of integration between government agencies at the state level, and these efforts represent an essential pillar in enhancing the country’s competitiveness and completing its strategic vision towards building a sustainable and advanced air transport future that serves society and the national economy.

He added that the UAE is moving steadily towards building an integrated environment that supports advanced air transport technologies, and provides a legislative and operational structure capable of accommodating future changes in this field.

He stressed that the memorandum represents an important step within the national efforts aimed at enhancing the country’s readiness to adopt smart and flexible transportation solutions, ensuring its continued leadership in developing new models of air transport that are efficient and sustainable.

The memorandum is based on establishing an effective partnership between the two parties to achieve common strategic goals, and contribute to coordinating the work areas related to the launch of the flexible system for advanced air mobility. It also aims to enhance administrative and technical cooperation and exchange best practices, to ensure raising the level of efficiency and quality of business implementation.

It also includes providing the necessary technical consultations, conducting preliminary assessments of the proposed sites for establishing hybrid airstrips, in addition to supporting the Transport Authority in implementing the new system for advanced urban air mobility, and exchanging experiences, knowledge and skills to ensure strengthening operational capabilities and raising the effectiveness of activities related to this vital project.
