The UAE calls for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire to end the civil war in Sudan

The UAE called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire to end the civil war in Sudan.
Minister of State for International Cooperation Affairs, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, said that Lieutenant General Al-Burhan once again rejects all efforts aimed at bringing peace, and that through his rejection of the American peace plan for Sudan, and his repeated refusal to accept a ceasefire, he is constantly showing obstructive behavior. This behavior must be denounced, as the Sudanese people remain the ones who bear the greatest price in this civil war.
Reem Al Hashemi added that the United Nations describes the current situation as one of the worst humanitarian tragedies in modern history, as the arrival of aid is used as a weapon, and civilians are deliberately starved.
She stressed that the UAE is following with great concern the behavior of both parties to the conflict, as their military escalation and repeated refusal to facilitate the arrival of humanitarian aid leads Sudan to the brink of collapse. The UAE calls for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire to end this civil war.
The UAE welcomes the efforts of United States President Donald Trump to prevent Sudan’s slide towards extremism and disintegration, and to prevent the humanitarian catastrophe from worsening.
Reem Al Hashemi concluded by saying: “Unifying regional and international efforts is essential to putting an end to the atrocities committed against civilians. We must re-establish a reliable path that leads to a safe, united and viable Sudan.”
