Ambassador Khattabi: Activating the new version of the media honor code
Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General for Media and Communication Affairs at the League of Arab States, confirmed that the technical committee, which is considered the pivot of joint Arab media work, is composed of heads of media agencies and is specialized, in accordance with the requirements of Article 14 of the Statute of the Council of Information Ministers, with developing draft plans and strategies, discussing the reports of expert committees, and submitting whatever recommendations it deems appropriate to the executive office, which makes it a proposing force. Real.
This came during his speech at the meeting of the 103rd session of the Permanent Committee for Arab Media, which is now being held at the headquarters of the League of Arab States.
He added that in line with the wording of this statute, the Executive Office had recommended in a previous meeting, with a proposal from the General Secretariat, the necessity of devoting appropriate representation to the member states in this committee in order to facilitate its carrying out its tasks.
He said that during this session, the committee will focus on studying the items on the agenda, including activating the new version of the Arab media code of honor, the media strategy to combat terrorism, the media and information literacy strategy, and the environmental media plan.
And developing an executive program for the media map for sustainable development 2030, which requires closer cooperation. It contributes to building a media that is open to the spirit of the times and qualified to win the bet of digital transformation.
The agenda of the 55th session also includes a request for the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport to join the Council of Arab Ministers of Information as observers.
He pointed out that this session is a collective opportunity to think about the best approaches to effective performance and creative innovation for an influential Arab media in spreading culture. Tolerance, a media based on expanding spaces for dialogue, gaining public trust, and possessing credibility, a media committed to comprehensive development paths and interacting with the requirements of the age of artificial intelligence and digital development.
