Mustafa Fawzi: The Basketball Federation Council is in continuous session… and a few of the Federation’s fans created the crisis
Dr. Mustafa Fawzi, a member of the Board of Directors of the Basketball Federation, confirmed that the Federation’s Board of Directors is in continuous session, to announce the penalties for the match between Al-Ahly and Al-Ittihad of Alexandria in the Al-Mattala Basketball League.
The Basketball Association had announced the withdrawal of Al-Ittihad Alexandria Club from the Al-Ittihad Club of Alexandria from the Al-Mattala League final against Al-Ahly Club, and Al-Ahly was crowned with the championship title.
Mustafa Fawzi said in statements. Journalist, that the Egyptian Basketball Federation is at the same distance from all clubs, and implementing the regulations is what happened during the final match.
He explained that the decision of the Basketball Federation Board of Directors came after the Alexandria Al-Ittihad Club violated its agreement with the Board of Directors, Al-Ahly Club, and the security authorities.
He continued: The fans had already come out and everyone was ready to play the match, but The Alexandria Al-Ittihad team decided to leave without informing anyone.
He continued that penalties will be applied to everyone who made a mistake according to the match observer’s report and the foreign refereeing team, to prevent the recurrence of such behavior, which in turn harms the entire basketball system and not one individual or club.
The member of the Egyptian Basketball Federation’s Board of Directors concluded that he regrets that the departure of a few Al-Ittihad Club fans from the system and rioting will harm the system. With the return of the fans to the stadiums, the Al-Ittihad Alexandria team is unfortunately the one who paid the price for this departure from sportsmanship.
