The German team Bayer Leverkusen defeated its English host, Manchester City, in the match that was held between them, at the “Etihad” Stadium. It ended with a score of 2-0 in the fifth round of the European Champions League season 2025-2026.
Alex Grimaldo scored the first goal for his team, Leverkusen, in the 23rd minute, and his teammate Patrik Schick added the second goal for the visitors in the 54th minute.
Egyptian international Omar Marmoush, the Manchester City star, participated mainly with his team, but did not score in the absence of Erling Haaland, who came in for Marmoush after 65 minutes into the match, and Haaland is the team’s top scorer in all competitions, but City coach Pep Guardiola preferred to sit on the bench and push with Marmoush.
With this result, City’s balance froze at 10 points in sixth place, after suffering their first defeat in the tournament this season, while Leverkusen succeeded in catching their goal and raising their score to 8 points in thirteenth place.
