Mansour bin Mohammed donates blood in support of a campaign "My blood is for my country"

DUBAI, 26 November / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management in Dubai, and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dubai Health, affirmed that blood donation is a humanitarian duty and a national act that reflects the values established in the UAE society.
His Highness said: “The “My Blood for My Country” campaign embodies an inspiring model that highlights the role of constructive community partnership in enhancing the capabilities of our health system. What we are witnessing today in the growing awareness of the importance of blood donation confirms that the culture of giving has become an inherent part of our society. We urge all members of society to participate in the campaign to enhance its impact in saving people’s lives.”
This came during His Highness’s blood donation, at the Dubai Health Department’s blood donation center, in support of the “My Blood for My Country” campaign, and its prominent role in spreading the culture of voluntary blood donation among segments of society.
His Highness was received at the blood donation center by: His Excellency Dr. Alawi Al Sheikh Ali, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, His Excellency Lieutenant General Awad Hader Juma Al Muhairi, Deputy Chairman of the State Security Service in Dubai, His Excellency Major General Tamim Mohammed Al Muhairi, Director General of the State Security Service in Dubai, and His Excellency Dr. Amer Sharif, Executive Director of Dubai Health and Director of the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences.
The campaign is organized in partnership between Al Ameen Service, Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Health, and Emarat Al Youm newspaper, and aims to provide blood units to treat patients, in addition to providing the necessary blood units for the Thalassemia Center, in addition to promoting the culture of blood donation in society.
For his part, His Excellency Dr. Alawi Sheikh Ali said that the participation of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in the “My Blood for My Homeland” campaign comes as a continuation of His Highness’s role in supporting health and community initiatives and encouraging blood donation. He stressed that blood donation represents an important humanitarian value that contributes to saving the lives of patients, and that community interaction with the campaign reflects the level of awareness of national initiatives.
He pointed out that the Dubai Health Authority is continuing to strengthen the voluntary blood donation system and support programs that contribute to raising the readiness of the health sector and meeting the needs of patients, stressing that the campaign comes within the framework of the Authority’s ongoing approach to enhancing community participation and humanitarian work.
For his part, His Excellency Dr. Amer Sharif thanked His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his generous initiative to donate blood and his continued support for the “My Blood for My Homeland” campaign, stressing that this initiative reflects the approach of our wise leadership in promoting the culture of giving and providing an inspiring model that encourages individuals and institutions to participate in this national initiative. He added: “Dubai Health continues to work to raise community awareness of the importance of regular blood donation, and expand the scope of the campaign’s work to enhance its humanitarian impact.”
For his part, the General Supervisor of the “Secretary Service”, Omar Al Falasi, confirmed that the “My Blood for My Homeland” campaign continues to enhance the spirit of solidarity among members of society, because of the messages it carries of giving and humanitarian work, and spreading the spirit of initiative in society.
He said: “For more than a decade, the campaign has reflected positive results on society, at the levels of donors and those in need, which had an impact in preventing diseases and raising the health level in the country,” stressing that the “Secretary Service” continues to enhance the positive role by constantly contributing to preserving the safety and health of community members.
In turn, the editor-in-chief of Emirates Today, Ibrahim Shukrallah, confirmed that the donation of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, as part of the “My Blood for My Country” campaign, embodies an inspiring model of humanitarian work, and reflects the wise leadership’s keenness to establish a culture of giving and social responsibility. He added that Emirates Today’s participation as a partner in the campaign comes from its social responsibility and role in spreading awareness and establishing the culture of blood donation as a humanitarian act that saves lives.
The “My Blood for My Homeland” campaign seeks to attract new donors, especially those who are donating for the first time, with the aim of expanding the blood donation center’s database, especially those with rare blood types. It also focuses on encouraging young people from 18 to 30 years of age to donate, to promote the concept of blood donation as part of a healthy lifestyle, in addition to encouraging various governmental and private agencies to participate in donation campaigns.
