The Kingdom reviews the features of its industrial transformation at the UNIDO session "Vision 2050"

Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Industry Affairs Eng. Khalil bin Ibrahim bin Salamah, in a session in which the United Nations Industrial Development Organization reviewed "Vision 2050"It launched the Industrial Development Report 2026, as part of the World Industry Summit in Riyadh.
The session, which was held under the title "Prepare for the future of manufacturing" An elite group of world leaders, policymakers and international experts, in an in-depth discussion about the features of the industry in the coming decades, and the participants reviewed the most prominent driving forces for global industrial transformation, most notably the green transformation, digital technologies, and the reshaping of global value chains.
Supporting developing countries
During his participation in the session, Ibn Salamah stressed the necessity of adopting bold and forward-looking steps to build industries capable of competing in the future, saying: "If the world has reached a stage where the option of continuing with usual methods is no longer available, the time has come for bold decisions that enable developing countries to leap forward instead of simply trying to catch up."
He added: "The competitiveness of the future must stem from innovation and advanced technologies, and from the ability to embrace green industrial pathways that protect both prosperity and the planet"
He pointed to the industrial progress achieved within the framework of the Kingdom’s national strategy for industry, highlighting qualitative investments in research and development systems, expanding the base of industrial sectors, strengthening supply chains, and investing in human capital to ensure sustainable industrial growth.
The Deputy Minister of Industry said: "New global standards are reshaping the future of trade and manufacturing at an accelerating pace. Our priority must be to ensure that developing economies are not left out when these standards take hold. We must enter early into high-value green manufacturing, supported by strong compliance systems, sustainable supply chains, and partnerships that put innovation at the heart of industrial growth."
New industrial strategies
The Director General of UNIDO, Gerd Müller, along with a number of senior leaders in the organization, presented the conclusions of the analysis "Vision 2050" The future, and the Industrial Development Report 2026, which calls for the adoption of industrial strategies that integrate economic, social, environmental and cultural dimensions, to ensure comprehensive and sustainable industrial development and long-term prosperity.
The session witnessed interventions by a number of senior officials and academics from Brazil, Indonesia, the United Kingdom and international organizations, and the discussion was moderated by the Director of the Department of Policy-Making Bodies in "UNIDO" Kay Petke.
The Kingdom’s hosting of the World Industry Summit 2025 reflects its growing role in formulating industry policies at the international level, and also consolidates its commitment to supporting innovation, green transformation, and comprehensive industrial development throughout the world.
