The UAE welcomes the European Parliament’s decision regarding Sudan

Lana Nusseibeh, Minister of State and Foreign Minister’s Envoy to the European Union, welcomed the European Parliament’s timely decision in support of efforts to end the civil war in Sudan.
The UAE affirmed its firm commitment to supporting the efforts made to confront this disastrous civil war, and to working with regional and international partners, including in Europe, to ensure security, stability and sustainable development for the brotherly Sudanese people.
Lana Nusseibeh indicated that the European Parliament’s resolution supported the work of the Quartet and described it as a “formula for mediation” in this dispute.
She pointed out that the joint statement of the Quartet constitutes a historic step aimed at stopping the fighting, ending the civil war, and drawing a practical road map through a humanitarian truce followed by a transitional process towards a civilian government independent of both parties to the conflict. The statement also stressed that the future of Sudan cannot be dictated by extremist groups linked to or influenced by the Muslim Brotherhood, as the establishment of an independent civilian government is the only solution to reform Sudan’s institutions and rid the state of extremism.
Lana Nusseibeh added: “We strongly and continuously condemn the serious violations committed by the two warring parties – the Rapid Support Forces and the Port Sudan Authority. Their actions have caused enormous suffering and destabilized the future of Sudan. It is necessary to put an immediate end to the war and all acts of violence.”
Lana Nusseibeh also stressed that the UAE’s position is clear, which is to achieve an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, and to ensure the unhindered access of humanitarian aid through all available roads and corridors. The UAE’s efforts have always focused on humanitarian aspects in the first place, which reflects the country’s firm commitment to providing relief support to the Sudanese people.
According to the report of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the UAE provided $784 million in humanitarian aid, which places it in second place in sending aid to Sudan after the United States, and the country providing the most aid during the year 2025.
