“King of Dalouna and Al-Hawara”.. Assi El-Hillani brought Lebanese singing to the international level

The generation of “social media” audiences may not know that the Lebanese artist Assi El-Helani, who celebrates his fifty-fifth birthday today, Friday, November 28, is one of the discoveries of singing talent programs, but not the programs that fill Arab screens these days, which have been Arabized from foreign programs. Rather, he is a graduate of the famous “Studio El Fan” program, whose idea was invented and presented for many years by the late Lebanese director Simon Asmar.

The fame of Muhammad Muzain Al-Helani, whom Simon Asmar called “Asi Al-Helani,” began. In honor of the Orontes River, after winning the silver medal in the youth category in the “Studio El Fan” program in 1988, in the folk singing category. Al-Halani comes from the village of Al-Halaniyeh, in the Lebanese Baalbek region, and he is the son of a family consisting of 13 members. In 1995, he married Miss Lebanon 1989, Colette Boulos, and they have three children: Al-Walid, Marietta, and Dana.

It is not possible to summarize the career of an artist of the size of Assi El-Hellani, but being aware of the singing works that distinguished him may be an important title for his artistic career. Ibn Baalbek was associated with transferring the Lebanese song to the world, through singing “Al-Dalouna and Al-Hawwara”, whose ancient folklore continued to accompany his appearance in the largest singing festivals in the Arab world, such as: “Jerash”, “Carthage”, “Mawazine”, “Dubai Nights”, “Doha”, and “Riyadh Season”. He also sang in the “Arab Music Festival and Conference”. He was the best ambassador for the Lebanese song.

Multiple experiences:

Al-Halani did not limit himself to singing in his career, but rather participated as an actor in a musical theatrical performance entitled “The Manor Opera,” with the famous Abdel Halim Caracalla troupe. He also acted dramatically in a series called “The Godfather,” and he considered it a good experience, but he complained of the long filming hours and his involvement with it for several months, which prevented him from focusing on his artistic career as a singer.

His extensive experience as a singer and composer, and the author of a large collection of successful songs such as: “Ya Mima”, “I am a rogue, I have passed”, “O ungrateful person”, “A door that cries”, “Sawt al-Hada”, “Longing for the Deserts”, “I love you very much”, “Zaghiri al-Dani”, “Kayd Azzalak”, “They tortured me”, “Mali Sabr”, and others, qualified him to be an arbitrator. He was prominent in the talent discovery program “The Voice,” alongside his fellow stars: Kazem Al-Saher, Saber Al-Rubai, and Sherine Abdel-Wahab, in three consecutive seasons. While he was found in the fourth season alongside: Elissa, Mohamed Hamaki, and Ahlam.

A major supporter of his family

Al-Hellani’s view of art and his own vision, in addition to his successes and popularity, and the desire of his two children: Al-Waleed and Marietta, prompted him to encourage them to enter the artistic arena. Al-Waleed is a young singer who sometimes makes his way in the style of his father, who is beloved by the masses, and at other times in the style of his own youthful singing, while Marietta varies between singing and acting. But the youngest daughter, Dana, chose to pursue her own passion for learning the culinary arts in Paris, and she received full support from her father in what she chose.
