The Australian ambassador to Cairo confirms his country’s support for Egypt in stopping wars in the region

Dr. Axel and Pinehurst, Australian Ambassador to Cairo, affirmed his country’s support for Egypt in stopping wars in the region and protecting humanitarian workers in conflict areas.

 

The Australian Ambassador spoke – in an interview he conducted with the “World of Knowledge” program: On the European program on Egyptian Radio – about the distinguished Egyptian-Australian relations that began their official journey in 1950, and the celebration this year of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.."RTL" lang="AR-SA"He praised the great role played by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in improving the infrastructure that supports and encourages the arrival of tourists to Egypt, especially Australian tourists, whose numbers are expected to increase after the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.

He also talked about the important visit made by the Governor-General of Australia, Mrs. Sam Mostyn, to Egypt this year, and her fruitful meeting with President Sisi. He said: “Australia and Egypt have distinguished economic relations, and there is imminent cooperation between Egypt and Australia in the field of mining, especially gold.” Pointing out that Engineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, began a visit to the Australian city of Perth today to study ways of this cooperation. The ambassador and Pinehurst added, saying: “We export to Egypt some types of grains and meat… and Egypt exports to Australia fertilizer, citrus fruits, textiles, dates, and building materials such as cement and ceramics.” He explained that it is expected that the volume of trade and investment exchange between the two countries will increase in the near future, because Egypt is a country that encourages Investment.

 

The Australian ambassador presented his country’s experience in health care and education. He stressed that Australia was built on the hands of immigrants not only from professional professions, such as engineers and doctors, but also from skilled craftsmen such as carpentry and plumbing.

The ambassador and Pinehurst explained that the Egyptian community in Australia is a successful community, including two ministers and a judge in the Supreme Court, and there are pioneers in social work such as the Egyptian doctor Daniel Nour, who founded a mobile clinic to provide free services to the poor.
