"Hexagon".. A musical night of loyalty that brings back the sparkle of Attia Sharara at the Small Theater.. Sunday

On an evening in which memory and art unite, and generations embrace on stage, the Egyptian Opera House, headed by Dr. Alaa Abdel Salam, is organizing a concert by the Sharara Sextet, led by Dr. Hassan Sharara, at eight o’clock in the evening on Sunday, November 30, at the Small Theater, within the framework of the Ministry of Culture’s plans to revive the legacy of great Egyptian musicians and re-present it to new generations.

 

The concert comes as a renewed celebration of the late musician Attia. Sharara, one of the most prominent pioneers of musical composition in Egypt and the Arab world, as the program witnesses the presentation of a group of his most famous compositions that formed a special state of art with its authentic oriental character, including: Cairo Nights, Toha, Monologues, Weddings, Alexandrian Dance, Longa the Butterfly, Mansoura Nights, Nights of Light, and Alexandria Nights. 

 

The works are presented with the participation of an elite group of people. And the descendants of the great artist, along with a group of distinguished musicians, in a scene that reflects the extension of the artistic legacy over time.

 

The band includes: Dr. Mohamed Sharara, Dr. Ahmed Sharara, Mohamed Mohie Sharara (violin), Raji Kamal (qanun), Dr. Ashraf Sharara (cello), Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Fattah (oud), Dr. Kholoud Sharara (flute), Karim Wassef (contrabass), Zein Al-Abidin and Hani. Zen (rhythm). A family presence that resembles a musical tree that blossoms whenever the sound of the violin rises or the sound of the oud flows.

 

Attia Sharara’s journey…

Attia Sharara began writing his compositions in 1948, when he presented pieces with a single melody that quickly found their way to the public on Egyptian radio, before his production expanded to become one of the most prominent pillars of oriental musical composition. In addition to his work as first violin player in the radio music band and then its leader, he contributed to establishing musical bands on several Arab radio stations in Tunisia, Libya and Algeria, and contributed to establishing an institute for Arabic music in Jordan, which made his influence extend beyond the borders of the country.

 

In 1980, he founded the Hexa Sharara band, which brought together his children with the aim of presenting his musical legacy on the stage, before his grandchildren joined it later, who continue to carry the torch today. itself, giving his music a new life with a contemporary color and a spirit faithful to the origins.

 

Sharara received many awards and accolades during his career, most notably: the State Encouragement Award for Music Composition in 1983 for “The Second Concerto for Violin and Orchestra,” the Medal of Sciences and Arts, First Class, in 1985, and the Medal of Sciences, Arts, and Culture, Second Class, from the Sultan. Qaboos in 2005. He left our world in June 2014 after leaving an exceptional mark on the memory of Arab music.

The “sext” concert is not considered Just a musical evening, but rather a restoration of a beautiful time that combined sophistication, ingenuity, and identity. It is a night in which the natural extension of beauty is embodied, as children and grandchildren hold the strings of melody to reshape the features of Sharara’s music, and to offer the opera audience an experience that goes beyond listening to celebrating a musical history that is renewed whenever faithful hands play its notes.
