The European Commissioner for Crisis Management calls for the need for aid to flow into Gaza

The European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, Haja Lahbib, called for the need for aid, food and medicine to flow into the Gaza Strip, through all crossings, and Israel’s commitment to allowing UN relief agencies to perform their role without obstacles.

According to what was published by the Palestinian news agency “Wafa”, she said to Habib during her visit to the Rafah land crossing, today, Friday, that the European Union’s goal is to move quickly to deliver… Tons of aid to the residents of Gaza, saving the people from the harsh conditions and winter, in preparation for the transition from the relief phase to early recovery and reconstruction, expressing her appreciation for the Egyptian efforts in supporting the ceasefire and sending humanitarian aid.

She added that the goal of the visit is to review the mechanisms for introducing humanitarian aid directed to the Gaza Strip in accordance with United Nations standards, and in light of the continuous warnings of the deterioration of the humanitarian conditions inside the Strip, especially with the approaching winter season. Winter.

She indicated that the Gaza Strip’s needs, according to estimates by international organizations, amount to about 600 trucks per day, as many shipments are hindered or returned despite inspection, which represents one of the most prominent challenges in the way of reaching relief to eligible groups within the Strip.

The European Commissioner stressed that families in Gaza are living on the brink of the abyss, warning of a catastrophic winter if the Israeli restrictions imposed on the entry of aid continue, and therefore the ceasefire agreement must be adhered to in Gaza, adherence to international law, and protection of civilians.
