Absences and numerical shortages are behind Sharjah’s fall to Al Ain in four

Sharjah coach, Abdul Majeed Al-Nimr, blamed the absence of a large number of his players and his team’s numerical deficiency for the heavy loss to Al Ain, 4-1, in the second leg of the quarter-finals of the Professional Football Cup.

Al-Nimr said in the press conference after the match that his team went into the confrontation while missing nine players at once, due to a number of them joining the national team, and the injury of others, stressing that these circumstances clearly affected the “King’s” performance.

He added: “The group that participated did what they could, and no player can be blamed, as they made a great effort despite the circumstances.”

The coach explained: “He entered the match with a clear plan based on not conceding early goals in order to preserve the chances of a comeback, especially after losing the first leg 1-3. However, Al Ain took advantage of the available opportunities very effectively and scored four goals. On the other hand, my team missed a number of opportunities and settled for scoring a single goal.

Al-Nimr pointed out that his team’s loss was a natural result of the match’s circumstances and the circumstances of the absences, adding that the team will work to address the mistakes and prepare for what is coming in the season.
