Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center commemorates "Martyr’s Day"

Abu Dhabi, November 30 / WAM / The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center commemorated Martyr’s Day, which falls on November 30 of every year, in appreciation of the sacrifices of the nation’s righteous martyrs who gave their lives in sacrifice for the nation.

The flag was lowered at half-mast at the mosque’s headquarters at exactly eight o’clock in the morning, after which His Excellency Dr. Yousef Al-Obaidli, Director-General, and the center’s employees, at exactly 11:30 am, observed a minute of silence and prayed for forgiveness and mercy for the pure souls of the martyrs, and that God Almighty may grant them peace in His spacious gardens, after which the flag was raised.

His Excellency Dr. Yousef Al-Obaidli stressed the immortal status of the nation’s heroes…and said: “Martyr’s Day is a national occasion during which we remember the sacrifices of our children and their families, who wrote the most wonderful pages of loyalty and sincerity, and proved that love for the nation is priceless. We, on this great day, with all pride and honor, draw inspiration from their fragrant biography the greatest images of giving and sacrifice, in redemption for this precious nation, in defense of its security and stability, and we renew to it the pledge to preserve its gains.” And continue to build and give to it in various fields of life, so that our country rises to the highest ranks.”

On this occasion, the cultural tours provided by the center’s cultural tour specialists included an explanation that informed the mosque’s guests from different cultures of the world about this national occasion and what it means to commemorate this memory in the souls of the Emirati people, leadership and people.
