The Arab League holds a meeting on digital transformation

Within the framework of continued cooperation between the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States and the World Intellectual Property Organization, and in light of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides, the Intellectual Property and Competitiveness Unit in the Legal Affairs Sector of the League of Arab States will hold a regional meeting on the digital transformation of intellectual property offices in the Arab countries in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization during the period 313 December 2025 at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States.

 

The Minister Plenipotentiary, Dr. Maha Bakhit, Director of the Legal Affairs Department and the Intellectual Property and Competitiveness Unit, said that this meeting is considered a continuation of the ongoing and fruitful cooperation between the League of Arab States and the World Intellectual Property Organization since 2000, and comes at a time when the world is witnessing an unprecedented acceleration in the pace of digital transformation, a transformation that is now imposing itself as a major driver of economic and social development, and as an essential element for enhancing the environment of innovation and creativity.

 

The meeting’s agenda includes several important topics, including discussing the pivotal role of intellectual property offices in Arab countries in protecting innovations and regulating the rights of creators and inventors, the progress made in industrial property offices with regard to automation and digital transformation of offices, the role of the Arabic language in national and international intellectual property systems, and the project to launch the Arab electronic registry for intellectual property in Arab countries and the technical support tools provided by the World Intellectual Property Organization to enhance work in industrial property offices in Arab countries. In the field of digitization, and a review of the most important successful Arab experiences in digital transformation in the field of intellectual property.

 

The meeting was held in the presence of a group of experts from the World Intellectual Property Organization and officials of the Arab Countries Department of the World Intellectual Property Organization, in addition to representatives and directors of intellectual property offices in Arab countries.
