Al-Jadaan: We have a ceiling on debt and we do not compete with citizens and companies for loans


He said Minister of Finance Mohammed Al-Jadaan said today, Wednesday, that borrowing indicators in Saudi Arabia are in a good position, indicating that he is not concerned about borrowing as long as the return on the debt is higher than its cost.

Al-Jadaan said during a forumSaudi Budget 2026: "We have a debt strategy, where the government has set a ceiling for itself to not exceed certain amounts."

He added: "This strategy requires not crowding out the private sector or Large companiesin their need for debt, or citizens in their need for debt in relation to real estate loans."

Al-Jadaan explained that "Debt may not be considered a good thing on a personal level, but if you can practice your daily life and activities without debt, this is desirable. This principle can be applied at the government level, but there are exceptions."

The Minister of Finance confirmed that spending is increasing according to a well-studied economic mechanism, and basic activities and services that affect the citizen have a clear impact.
