Sharjah, December 3, 2025 – Sharjah Media City “Shams” continued to consolidate its position as a leading center in supporting creative and media industries in the UAE and the region during 2025. The year witnessed remarkable growth indicators in terms of the number of registered companies and the job opportunities it created, in addition to qualitative progress in its strategic projects, most notably the “Shams Studios” project.
The number of media companies registered in “Shams” by the end of the third quarter of 2025 reached more than 7,000 companies, which reflects the city’s attractiveness as a preferred destination for entrepreneurs and innovators in the fields of media, entertainment, and modern technologies. This growth is due to the integrated services system provided by the city, which combines the flexibility of the business environment, the ease of licensing procedures, and the diversity of investment opportunities.
Since its establishment in 2017, “Shams” has contributed to the creation of more than 10,000 direct and indirect job opportunities through companies operating in the city and their associated service providers. This role has strengthened “Shams”’s position as one of the main engines of the creative economy system in the Emirate of Sharjah and reflects its actual contribution to the development of the media and innovation sectors.
“Shams” has placed the development of creative competencies at the heart of its strategy, as more than 5,000 young men and women have benefited from the training programs and workshops organized by the city in the fields of media production, digital content making, podcasting, and post-production technologies. The programs aim to enable young people to acquire practical skills that enhance their presence in the local and regional media market.
The “Shams Studios” project is one of the most prominent strategic projects that the city is currently working on. After completing the engineering designs for the project during the year 2025, “Shams” is preparing to begin construction work in early 2026. The project aims to create an integrated production destination for films, drama and creative content, which will contribute to transforming Sharjah into a pivotal center for the media and cinema industry in the region.
His Excellency Rashid Abdullah Al-Obed, Director General of Sharjah Media City (Shams), confirmed that the results achieved during the current year reflect the city’s success in moving from the planning stage to the actual implementation stage in its major projects, stressing the continuation of work according to a clear vision that aims to build an integrated production environment that supports talent, attracts quality investments, and enhances Sharjah’s position as a leading regional center in the media and entertainment industry.
Shams continues to play its vital role as a platform that embraces creativity, media projects and entrepreneurship. With the increasing growth in the number of companies and young talents and the continuous progress in its strategic projects, the city is moving steadily towards consolidating Sharjah’s position as a global destination for innovation and media production.
