Cooperation between "Gulf electrical interconnection" And an institute "My needle"

Charlotte – America, 4 December / WAM / The Gulf Cooperation Council Electricity Interconnection Authority and the Electric Energy Research Institute (EBRI) signed a strategic amendment to the framework agreement between them, in a qualitative step that reflects the commitment of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to developing a more efficient and reliable electrical infrastructure.

This came during the annual meeting of the Ebri Board of Directors, which was held in the city of Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, where the agreement was signed by Eng. Ahmed Al-Ibrahim, CEO of the Gulf Electrical Interconnection Authority, and Dr. Arshad Mansour, CEO of the Ebri Institute.

The new amendment, which aims to improve the flexibility of electrical networks and support their readiness for the changing energy future, adds a major area of cooperation that focuses on operational flexibility practices, which opens broader horizons for enhancing the reliability and efficiency of electrical networks in the GCC countries, and achieving higher economic and operational benefits.

This includes preparing a multi-year road map to integrate the results of joint studies into operating and planning plans, especially in light of the next phase that witnesses a rapid expansion in renewable energy projects and the adoption of advanced grid technologies.

The two sides explained that the anticipated roadmap will contribute to enhancing the ability of Gulf networks to face harsh weather conditions, raise the efficiency of operating electrical storage systems, and develop energy security sustainability solutions, in addition to supporting smart load prediction using artificial intelligence techniques, which enhances the readiness of regional control centers and raises the level of reliability.

Under the updated framework, the Authority and Ebri will work to develop resource efficiency methodologies, conduct regional assessments, and implement advanced analytical studies to improve the performance of networks, in a step that contributes to supporting the goals of the transition towards clean energy in the GCC countries, and ensuring the highest levels of economic efficiency and reliability.

This renewed cooperation reflects the shared vision between the two parties to enhance regional electrical integration and employ the latest global practices and expertise to build a safer and more sustainable energy future for the countries of the region.
