"Calds" You call my name"Sweihan" and"More" On its latest armored combat vehicles

ABU DHABI, 4 December / WAM / Caldis Holding Group announced the adoption of new Emirati names for a number of its military vehicles, based on local names derived from the environment and Emirati identity, in a step aimed at consolidating the cultural dimension in the brand of its defense products, and enhancing its presence in regional and global markets.
The group emphasized that the name is not a formality, but rather an authentic national orientation and an Emirati operational identity that accompanies the product throughout its service cycle, which prompted it to adopt an approach that balances cultural authenticity and global dissemination, taking into account linguistic and cultural aspects.
Accordingly, the group named the modern eight-wheel armored combat vehicle “Sweihan,” inspired by the cultural heritage and Emirati environment associated with the desert extending between Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, indicative of endurance, reliability, and operation in various environments and circumstances. This name gives the system a clear national identity that reflects the ruggedness of the desert and continuity of performance, which makes it particularly suitable for ground vehicles and systems designed for high-readiness missions in difficult environments and harsh climatic conditions, and encapsulates the values of steadfastness, continuous readiness, and the ability to impose field presence in various areas of operations.
It also gave the name “MEZYAD” to the four-wheel-drive multi-mission armored tactical vehicle, as a system that plays a double role in operational capabilities at the level of protection, maneuvering and rapid response. The name carries the meanings of strengthening and adding strength, in direct reference to its role in raising the efficiency of defense systems and enhancing field readiness in different environments and terrains, whether sandy or mountainous. The name is associated with the Mazyad Fort area near the city of Al Ain, which makes it appropriate for this vehicle, which contributes to enhancing flexible deployment, supporting command and control missions, and communications and monitoring solutions, within systems that can be expanded and upgraded according to user requirements.
Dr. Khalifa Murad Al Balushi, Managing Director and CEO of Caldis Holding Group, said: “At Caldis, we are keen to name our defense products with names that reflect the depth of the national identity and the capabilities of the group’s defense products, keeping pace with the requirements of global deployment. The choice of names such as Sweihan and Mazyed is not limited only to the symbolic and cultural dimension, but also embodies a clear operational philosophy for each system, and emphasizes its tangible performance in the field.
He added that this step comes in line with the directives of our wise leadership and its authentic approach to consolidating the national identity in various fields of development, most notably the advanced defense industries sector. By adopting national names for modern military systems and products, the group combines the depth of belonging to the land and the human being, consolidating the presence of the Emirati identity in the field, and anticipating the future with capabilities and designs capable of competing in regional and global markets.
He stressed that by adopting these national titles, the group continues to consolidate its position as a major partner in the integrated defense manufacturing system in the UAE, and an active contributor to supporting industrial and technical empowerment, in line with the country’s vision of strengthening its position as an advanced center for defense industries with a well-established Emirati identity and global presence.
