The Emirates Search and Rescue Team begins its field missions in the Kandy region of Sri Lanka

The Emirates Search and Rescue Team arrived in the Kandy region in the Central Province of the Republic of Sri Lanka, which is one of the areas most affected by Cyclone Ditwah and the floods that the country witnessed.

Upon its arrival, the team began its field missions by carrying out survey operations, assessing damage, searching for missing persons, and providing urgent support to the relevant Sri Lankan authorities, thus contributing to accelerating response and rescue efforts.

The Emirati team includes specialized teams equipped with advanced equipment, including search techniques in bodies of water, rescue boats, and trained search dogs, in addition to modern systems that allow efficient work in difficult environments, which enhances its ability to move quickly and reach affected areas.

These efforts come within the UAE’s urgent response to mitigate the effects of the humanitarian disaster and support ongoing operations to save lives and support those affected, within the framework of the UAE’s established approach to standing by friendly countries during crises and natural disasters.
