Austria’s economy continues to recover at a moderate pace in the third quarter

Vienna, December 7, 2025: Austria’s economy continued its recovery during the third quarter of the current year 2025, and the real gross domestic product achieved a growth of 0.4%, compared to the second quarter, and increased by 0.9% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the Austrian Statistics Authority.
Manuela Link, Director of the Statistics Authority, announced that GDP growth in the third quarter recorded the strongest quarterly increase during the current year, explaining that the quarterly increase was better than previous expectations, referring to the Austrian Institute for Economic Research (WIFO)’s expectation that GDP will grow by only 0.1% in the third quarter compared to the previous quarter.
“There is no doubt about stable growth so far,” Link said.
The updated data showed that the housing sector recorded a strong growth of 1.8%, compared to the previous quarter, and the industrial sector, including industrial goods and mining, witnessed a slight growth of 0.4%, and public spending increased with an increase in government consumption by 0.7%.
On the other hand, household consumption decreased by 0.3%, the accommodation and restaurants sector recorded a decrease of 0.9%, the construction sector continued to decline by 0.5%, and the movement of foreign trade and the decline in exports continue to negatively affect general economic growth. Exports decreased by 1.6% in the third quarter, while imports decreased by 0.5%.
The Austrian Statistics Authority indicated that there is a state of uncertainty in the global market.
