My mother knew that I was her daughter, but she did not know my name

Journalist Rabaa Al-Zayat spoke with emotion about her late mother’s illness with “Alzheimer’s,” and said, “It is a very difficult disease for the patient’s family.”

With tears in her eyes, Al-Zayat added: “The world is a mother, and this world is disappearing little by little. This world is losing her, and every day she is losing parts of herself and you are seeing how she is losing, and my mother was in pictures in the south and I was in Beirut.”

She continued: “Every time I go to her, I see something wrong with my mother and I lose myself.”

Al-Zayat said: “She used to make me angry and look at me, and she knew that I was her daughter, but she didn’t know my name.”
