Trump intervenes to review the Netflix and Warner Brothers deal

US President Donald Trump said that the large market share owned by Netflix in the streaming sector may pose a challenge to the company’s planned acquisition of Hollywood giant Warner Brothers.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Trump referred to the upcoming antitrust review, saying he would participate in making the decision.
Broadcast giant Netflix intends to buy Warner Bros.’s studios and broadcast activities in a deal worth more than $82 billion.
The two companies expressed confidence that the deal would withstand the scrutiny of competition authorities.
Media reports stated that Paramount believes it has a strong chance of winning the bidding process due to its close relationship with the White House.
Unlike Netflix, Paramount was seeking to buy the entire Warner Bros. Discovery portfolio, which also includes television networks such as CNN.
