The cardiac surgery team at the Prince Sultan Center for Heart Diseases and Surgery in Al-Ahsa recorded a qualitative medical achievement, which was saving the life of a fifty-year-old patient, after he suffered a sudden and complete arrest in An acute heart attack (myocardial infarction) required urgent intervention with cardiac catheterization. During the operation, a complete blockage occurred in the coronary arteries, leading to a complete cardiac arrest despite the medical team’s attempts to reopen the arteries with stents.

He added that the emergency team immediately initiated advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation until the pulse was restored, and the cardiovascular surgery team was called, where it was decided to install an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation device. (ECM), which temporarily serves the work of the heart and lungs to pump oxygen into the blood and maintain its functions Vital organs, which gave the heart an opportunity to rest and recover.
Within 48 hours in the center, the patient showed a noticeable improvement from the installation of the device, and after his condition stabilized and the heart regained its normal function, the echo device was successfully removed, and the patient continued the recovery phase under the supervision of the specialized medical team.
