The program, whose activities are held in cooperation with many ministries and local, federal, educational and private bodies, focuses on strengthening national identity and its main components among new generations and is held under the slogan “Arabic is the language of the Qur’an,” while it received male and female school students between the ages of 8 and 16 to participate in all of its activities.

This year, the program includes more than 150 cultural, heritage, artistic, entertainment and sports activities, and more than 37 artists, writers, a number of craftsmen and senior citizens participate in its activities, in activities managed by more than 84 trainers, teachers and supervisors.

His Excellency Yasser Al Gergawi, Director General of Sandooq Al Watan, said that the Fund, headed by His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, is keen to ensure that all activities and events of Sandooq Al Watan’s winter programs focus on promoting authentic Emirati values related to national identity, stressing that the door is still open for all students to join the program through the Fund’s website, provided that places are available for them in the main headquarters that were chosen this year.

He explained that the main goal of launching the program is to contribute to building future generations who are aware of their national identity and capable of creativity and sustainable leadership, strengthening their relationship with the Arabic language, developing reading and understanding skills in the Arabic language through Quranic verses, and unleashing the creative and innovative capabilities and skills of the new generation, in addition to promoting the values of good citizenship such as love of the homeland, belonging and loyalty to the homeland and its wise leadership.

He stressed that the most prominent title, which is the slogan for all the activities of the first week, is “The Emirati Sana is a language of work and moral values,” considering that the Sana is a major part in the formation of the Emirati personality and is transmitted from one generation to the next with noble Emirati values that we are all proud of.

He stated that school students participate in activities across 10 main headquarters in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Sharjah and Fujairah, noting that all the details of the various headquarters, programs and schedules are available to everyone through the Sandooq Al Watan website.

Al-Gergawi pointed out that the Al-Watan Fund was keen to employ a large number of qualified trainers and teachers to manage all program activities, so that all participating students would benefit from them, noting that the Fund sought the opinions of parents regarding the activities and work method in order to develop them continuously.

The activities of the first day included various sports activities, including designing a logo about the Emirati Sana’, writing a short story, or an acting scene that illustrates a situation in daily life in which the Sanaa appears in our cultural heritage, in addition to story readings, drawing artistic paintings about respecting the environment, and a discussion session about practicing the value of respect in school, home, and on the street. The supervisors asked the students to write about their experiences in applying the Emirati Sanaa, whether at home, on the street, or in various gatherings.

In an attempt to discover student talents, workshops were organized to write a short story or dialogue that illustrates an attitude of generosity, such as welcoming a guest or helping a friend. The Sandooq Al Watan winter program also hosted a number of craftsmen and senior citizens to talk about the etiquette of social gatherings and generosity, in addition to distinctive segments for practicing sports and recreational competitions such as football, basketball, and movement games.
