Trump proposes $12 billion in aid to farmers affected by his trade war

A White House official said that US President Donald Trump intends to provide an agricultural aid package worth $12 billion, in a move to support farmers who had difficulty selling their crops, as they were affected by rising costs after Trump raised customs duties on China as part of a broader trade war.

The official, who requested anonymity to speak ahead of the planned announcement, added that Trump will unveil the plan at the White House on Monday.
