A partnership between Abu Dhabi Investment Office and a company "China International Capital" To launch a joint investment framework

ABU DHABI, 10 December / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Investment Office announced the signing of a strategic partnership with China International Capital Corporation (CICC), one of the most prominent investment banks in Asia, with the aim of establishing an investment framework between Abu Dhabi and China.

The announcement of the partnership came in conjunction with the launch of the Financial Technologies, Insurance, Digital and Alternative Assets (FIDA) Complex, the strategic initiative that aims to develop the financial system, enhance its integration, and provide innovative financial solutions and technologies.

Under the agreement, the two parties will work to identify fast-growing Chinese companies wishing to benefit from Abu Dhabi’s strategic location, its integrated business system, and its advanced infrastructure, by designing innovative investment frameworks that allow investment institutions in Abu Dhabi to participate directly in Chinese capital markets.

The joint investment framework will contribute to supporting the objectives of the Financial Technologies, Insurance, Digital and Alternative Assets (FIDA) Complex, which is to direct capital towards strategic sectors and enhance access to innovative financial products, thus establishing Abu Dhabi’s leadership in the global financial sector.

Through its regional headquarters, China International Capital aims to take advantage of the growing financial markets system and the advanced regulatory environment in the emirate to enhance deal flow, provide advanced financial solutions, and provide investment portfolio management services and customized services for family businesses and wealthy individuals, in line with the objectives of the Financial Technologies, Insurance, Digital and Alternative Assets (FIDA) complex.

The partnership includes providing advisory services to enter the market, developing financing tools that are compatible with environmental, social and institutional governance principles, and launching joint financing platforms that contribute to promoting sustainable growth.

A specialized work program will be established to develop sustainable investment tools such as green bonds and financing solutions that support companies’ transition to clean energy and private equity funds in line with the goals of climate neutrality in both countries, and in a way that enhances the role of the Financial Technologies, Insurance, Digital and Alternative Assets (FIDA) complex in advancing the field of sustainable finance and financing transformation within the Abu Dhabi financial system.

The two parties will also cooperate with local universities, research centers and emerging companies to develop innovative financial solutions and technologies, in a way that enhances competency development and supports innovation in the financial sector.

His Excellency Badr Salim Sultan Al Olama, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, said: Abu Dhabi is working to build an integrated financial system that combines innovation, capital and supportive regulatory frameworks, in a way that strengthens its position as a leading global center for the financial sector.

The signing of this partnership coincides with the launch of the Financial Technologies, Insurance, Digital and Alternative Assets (FIDA) Complex, to enhance integration between investment, innovation and regulatory frameworks. Cooperation with China International Capital will contribute to the exchange of investment expertise and the development of innovative solutions, thus consolidating Abu Dhabi’s leadership in the global financial sector.

For his part, Wilson Zhang, Executive Director and Global CEO of Equities at China International Capital Corporation, said: “Establishing our regional center in Abu Dhabi is in line with our strategy to provide innovative financial solutions to our clients around the world. It is worth noting that the “China International Capital Corporation” was established in 1995 as the first joint-venture investment bank in China, and has developed into an integrated financial institution that includes the fields of investment banking, asset management, wealth management, and private capital.

This strategic agreement places the Emirate of Abu Dhabi at the heart of the company’s global expansion plans, as it will make Abu Dhabi its regional headquarters in the Middle East, and a platform to launch its regional investment operations.
