The UAE/global leadership in adopting autonomous systems and engineering the future

Abu Dhabi, January 25 / WAM / The UAE continues to consolidate its global position in the sector of autonomous and unmanned systems and future engineering, based on an integrated strategic vision that combines long-term planning, investment in advanced technology, and building a national system of innovation in a way that enhances the competitiveness of the national economy and keeps pace with accelerating global transformations.

This leadership comes within the framework of the national trends established by the wise leadership, most notably the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence and the UAE Centennial 2071, which aims to consolidate the country’s position as a global center for advanced technologies and a knowledge-based economy.

The UAE adopts a proactive approach in developing and employing autonomous systems based on future readiness, integration of government policies, accelerating technology transfer, and stimulating partnerships between the government and private sectors, ensuring the employment of these technologies in vital sectors including defence, security, smart transportation, energy, and logistics services.

The UAE’s accession to the Pax Silica Declaration constitutes a qualitative strategic step that strengthens its global position in the field of autonomous and unmanned systems, and consolidates its role as a reliable partner in the supply chains for advanced technologies related to artificial intelligence at a stage that is witnessing an unprecedented acceleration in reliance on these systems in the defense and civil sectors.

By joining the declaration, the UAE strengthens its position as a regional and global center for developing, testing and deploying autonomous and unmanned systems, taking advantage of its strategic geographical location, advanced infrastructure and supportive legislative environment.

Autonomous and unmanned systems are a strategic pillar for raising the efficiency of infrastructure, achieving sustainability, and supporting economic growth paths in the UAE.

National institutions, such as the Advanced Technology Research Council and the Technological Innovation Institute, played a prominent role in building an advanced research and industrial base that enabled the country to develop autonomous solutions based on artificial intelligence and smart systems that compete globally in terms of efficiency and reliability.

Continuing investments in research and development and attracting global talent have contributed to strengthening the country’s capabilities to transform innovation into practical applications that serve national priorities and open new markets for advanced industries.

The international exhibitions and events hosted by the country, most notably UMEX, SimTEX, and Abu Dhabi Autonomous Systems Week, have formed strategic platforms to showcase the latest national solutions in the fields of unmanned systems and artificial intelligence, and to promote international dialogue about the future of these technologies.

These events have become a global platform and link that brings together decision-makers, developers and investors and contributes to shaping the features of the future of autonomous systems at the regional and international levels.

The projects launched by the country in the fields of autonomous vehicles, unmanned aircraft, and autonomous marine systems embody the UAE’s vision of employing technology to serve humanity and achieve the highest levels of safety and operational efficiency while reducing emissions and enhancing environmental sustainability.

These projects contribute to supporting the transition towards smart cities, advanced transportation systems, and more flexible supply chains in line with the country’s goals of building a sustainable and advanced economy. This technical progress is accompanied by the development of flexible legislative and regulatory frameworks that ensure the safe and responsible operation of autonomous systems, and achieve a balance between encouraging innovation and protecting public safety, in a way that enhances the confidence of investors and international partners in the country’s regulatory environment.

Through its comprehensive strategic vision in the autonomous systems and future technologies sector, the UAE provides a global model for a country that has made technology a tool for development, stability and sustainable prosperity.
