Four snapshots that chart the journey of the “genius”:

The postage stamp collects four snapshots, embodying essential stations and integrated stages of Rahbani’s artistic life. These photos document the “genius” of Ziad, who, through his creativity, refused to remain confined to the legacy of his large family (Asi Rahbani, Fayrouz, and Mansour Rahbani); To rebel artistically, and draw a Rahban line of his own for himself. The four pictures embody different stages of Ziad Rahbani’s artistic life. The first photo shows Ziad inside the studio in front of the keyboard, amidst a technical atmosphere that reflects his musical precision and interest in audio engineering. The second is a colorful snapshot of the stage of artistic maturity, showing Ziad sitting in front of the piano with a focused gaze, during a period marked by his clear political and artistic presence. The third is a picture from his younger years, with a calm sideways glance, expressing the beginnings of his passion for theater and music. While the fourth photo is a black and white shot, while recording a piece of music, in which he is wearing headphones between his musical instruments, in a scene that brings back the atmosphere of the seventies and eighties of the last century.

The young Rahbani grew up in a home rich in arts, knowledge, culture, and creativity, and his first artistic work was revolutionary poetry, which he wrote before he completed his twelfth year. Despite his early start in the world of poetry, Ziad preferred to follow in the footsteps of his parents as a composer, singer, and author, as he loved the stage more than anything.

His talent was publicly demonstrated in the world of theater at the age of 17, when he participated in writing, composing, and presenting the play “The Station” with his mother, Fairouz, in 1973. At the same time as his mother, Fairouz, was training for her role in the play “The Station,” his father, Assi Rahbani, suffered a hemorrhage in his head, causing him to miss rehearsals and performances, and his brother Mansour Rahbani wrote the lyrics of a song expressing Fairouz’s longing for her sick husband. The surprise was that the song was attributed to the boy who was no more than 18 years old at the time. Ziad composed the song “The People Asked Me,” creating a widespread sensation with a work that is still engraved in the minds of millions, until now.
