Dubai Roads implements an expanded inspection campaign to reduce random parking of trucks

The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai announced that it has implemented an expanded inspection campaign to monitor the wrong practices of truck drivers, which include random parking on the main roads in the emirate. The implementation of the campaign comes within the Authority’s efforts to enhance traffic safety for road users and truck drivers, raise the efficiency of road infrastructure, and preserve the cultural appearance of the Emirate of Dubai.
The Authority has begun implementing intensive inspection campaigns targeting the phenomenon of random parking of trucks on main streets and under bridges in a number of vital areas in the emirate, as part of its efforts to control violating behavior and limit practices that obstruct traffic and pose a danger to road users, which enhances traffic flow and safety on the emirate’s streets.
The Roads and Transport Authority aims, through the inspection campaigns carried out, to regulate work within the right of way, protect public facilities and infrastructure, and maintain the safety of the road from any violating practices, stressing that it will continue to implement these campaigns on a regular and routine basis, in addition to random campaigns, to monitor any violations, and violations of right of way violators in various regions of the emirate.
The Authority is constantly keen to educate shipping companies and truck drivers of heavy vehicles about the dangers of random parking and the importance of adhering to the parking areas designated for trucks. The Authority has provided 14 designated rest stops for trucks in various regions of the emirate, in order to provide the highest means of comfort for truck drivers, especially during periods when trucks are prohibited on some roads in the emirate, and to reduce accidents resulting from the movement of trucks and illegal practices that threaten the safety of road users.
The Authority called on shipping companies and truck drivers to adhere to regulatory and operational controls, as random parking of trucks within the right of way or on main streets is a clear violation. Financial fines start at 5,000 dirhams, and are doubled in repeated or serious cases to reach 200,000 dirhams, depending on the type of violation and its impact on safety and traffic flow, and in accordance with the provisions of Dubai Executive Council Resolution No. (54) of 2021 regarding regulating work on the right-of-way.”
It is worth noting that the Authority, in the context of enhancing safety and traffic flow, reducing random parking of trucks on main roads, and improving the experience of road users in accordance with best international practices, has identified designated locations for truck rest stops in a number of strategic areas in the emirate. These rest stops include various parking lots, facilities and services that meet the needs of heavy vehicle drivers and transport companies, and include prayer halls, fuel (diesel) filling stations, stores and restaurants, truck maintenance workshops, and areas designated for drivers’ rest. The Authority also paid attention to By distributing these rest stops on highways and main roads to ensure easy access and provide a safe and convenient environment for drivers.
