"Interior" It celebrates International Human Rights Day under the slogan: "Human rights/the essence of our daily lives"

ABU DHABI, 11 December / WAM / The Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Standing Committee for Human Rights in the country, celebrated International Human Rights Day, which falls on the 10th of December every year, during an expanded event that affirmed the UAE’s firm commitment to preserving human dignity, promoting basic rights and freedoms, and consolidating the values of justice, tolerance and coexistence.
This year’s celebration came under the slogan “Human Rights/The Essence of Our Daily Lives”, emphasizing that human rights are not theoretical concepts, but rather a daily practice reflected in the behavior of individuals and social systems that enhance stability and support community cohesion.
The event was attended by His Excellency Brigadier Saeed Abdullah bin Tuer Al Suwaidi, Assistant Undersecretary for Security Affairs at the Ministry of Interior, His Excellency Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development Affairs and International Organizations, and His Excellency Ambassador Jamal Al Musharreh, Permanent Representative of the State to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, along with a number of heads of committees and regional and international organizations.
In a speech during the event, His Excellency Brigadier General Bin Tuer Al Suwaidi stressed that the UAE believes that the human being is the focus and foundation of development, and that protecting his rights represents a solid foundation for building a prosperous and secure country.
He explained that the wise leadership has established these values by spreading a culture of respect for rights, promoting the values of justice, tolerance and coexistence, and developing an integrated national system that puts the human being at the top of priorities.
He pointed out that protecting human rights is a shared responsibility that is not limited to institutions only, but is also embodied in society’s awareness and behavior of its members and instilling the values of humanity in future generations, stressing the Ministry of Interior’s keenness to continue its efforts in this field in line with the state’s strategic vision for promoting human rights and preserving human dignity.
The event included presentations and speeches by the participating parties, focusing on the importance of unifying efforts and integrating roles to ensure the promotion and protection of individuals’ rights, thus contributing to building safer, more stable and prosperous societies.
The participants also reviewed the UAE’s most prominent efforts in the areas of protecting human rights at the regional and international levels, and national commitments to relevant international agreements and treaties, praising the Emirati approach, which embodies a pioneering model in consolidating the values of tolerance and coexistence through an advanced legislative system and practices consistent with the best international standards.
