The world premiere of the film “Passport or Funeral” was held. Directed by director Amira Diab as part of the Arab Masterpieces program at the fifth session of the Red Sea Film Festival, in the presence of the work team, including Nelly, star Lebleba, screenwriters Dina Maher, Malak and Kenzi Sultan, Farida Ragab, musician Seif El-Din Hilal, and producer Mohamed Abdel Khaleq.
Antoine Khalifa, director of the Arab and Classical Program, thanked producer Hisham Abdel Khaleq for agreeing to offer The film was held at the Red Sea Festival as its world premiere before being shown in cinemas, and he is happy with the presence of a number of stars who always support the festival, and that the hall is full of audiences who love films and Egyptian cinema. “For Nelly Karim, who is brilliant as usual, she is a comprehensive artist and her performance is wonderful, and you will see her dancing beautifully because she is basically a ballerina, and in the film she will perform a number of dances in cooperation with the famous designer Walid Aouni, and also the big star Lebleba, as for me it is an honor to cooperate with them, as I have worked with an icon from the golden age of Egyptian cinema.” She also thanked Hadeel Kamel and director Hani Abu Asaad, her life partner and teacher in cinema as well. While artist Nelly Karim expressed her happiness at showing the film at the Red Sea Festival, stressing that the work belongs to the type of romantic comedies that she has loved for a long time, and she said: “I am a lover of old black and white films, as they are my favorite films because they make one feel optimistic and have fun, and in our film you say: Stay in the passport, not the funeral, even if God willing, the film will leave the audience with a sweet feeling.
The star Lebleba said about her happiness at being in Jeddah to participate in the festival: “I am very happy to show the film at the Red Sea Festival among a beautiful audience watching my last film with director Amira Diab, and I feel that she presented me in a new way, and it will be an imprint that will live with me in my artistic journey. I hope you like the movie.
The movie is the first feature-length narrative experience by director Amira Diab, written by Amira Diab and Dina Maher, in a new Arab experience that mixes elements of drama, social romance, and comedy, in a framework that its makers are betting on to attract diverse categories of audiences, and the events of the film take place in a suspenseful social comedy framework full of paradoxes, about… Two families with nothing in common except their lineage are forced to spend seven days together in a charming destination, in preparation for a lavish wedding that brings together their two sons.
