An American delegation reviews the artwork accompanying the Islamic Arts Festival
Sharjah, December 11 / WAM / A delegation from the US Consulate, headed by His Excellency Robert Raines, Consul General of the United States of America in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, today visited the Sharjah Art Museum, as part of the cultural visits of the twenty-sixth Islamic Arts Festival, held under the slogan “Siraj”.
The delegation was received by Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Qaseer, Director of the Department’s Cultural Affairs Department and Director of the Festival, and Khaled Musalat, Chairman of the Festival’s Media Committee.
Al Quseir reviewed the most prominent features of the festival this year and the programs and exhibitions it offers that highlight Sharjah’s position as an incubator for contemporary Islamic art and a global destination for creativity.
For his part, His Excellency the Consul General praised the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and his continued support for the path of cultural and artistic creativity in the emirate, which contributes to consolidating Sharjah’s position as a global center for artistic and cultural dialogue and a destination for creatives from various countries of the world.
His Excellency and the delegation viewed a variety of artworks participating in the festival, including murals and individual and group exhibitions, where he expressed his admiration for the high professional level of the artists and the visual proposals that reread Islamic art from a contemporary perspective while preserving its originality and aesthetic roots.
His Excellency noted the great cultural impact of the Islamic Arts Festival, stressing its vital role in preserving the Islamic artistic identity and highlighting its ability to develop and renew through works that interact with time and respond to the taste of new generations, which enhances the presence of Islamic art as an essential component in the global art scene.
The American Consul stressed that the relations between the United Arab Emirates and the United States of America go beyond economic and diplomatic cooperation to include a solid cultural and humanitarian partnership based on mutual respect and common appreciation for the values of art and creativity, pointing out the importance of continuing and expanding this cooperation through joint initiatives that contribute to enhancing knowledge exchange and supporting the arts in all its forms.
His Excellency praised the role played by the Sharjah Department of Culture and the qualitative efforts it provides in organizing artistic and cultural events, stressing his aspiration for more future cooperation in the fields of culture and arts.
