The Drug Authority discusses enhancing cooperation in artificial intelligence with an international institution

Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawi, Chairman of the Egyptian Medicines Authority, held a virtual meeting with officials from the Gates Foundation, in the presence of Dr. David Mukanga, Deputy Director of the Regulatory Systems Department for Africa at the Foundation, and Dr. Amal Ghouila, Chief Program Officer, within the framework of joint cooperation to support innovation and enhance the use of artificial intelligence technologies in the areas of drug regulation at the level of the African continent.
During the meeting, Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawi stressed the importance of strengthening regional cooperation through joint work with international partners, At the forefront of them is the Gates Foundation, which contributes to the development of strong regulatory bodies capable of keeping pace with global trends in pharmaceutical innovation and artificial intelligence. He also stressed the importance of partnerships between African and Arab regulatory bodies to make the most of international programs directed at supporting technical capabilities and developing human skills, stressing the Egyptian Medicines Authority’s commitment to developing its cadres and enhancing its infrastructure and information to keep pace with rapid technical development.
Gates Foundation officials praised the pioneering role played by the Egyptian Medicines Authority at the regional and international levels, stressing that the Authority represents an advanced model in adopting modern technologies and developing systems. Regulatory measures to support the innovation system in the pharmaceutical sector.
They also expressed their appreciation for the Authority’s commitment to developing technical personnel and enhancing the information infrastructure, considering that these efforts reflect Egypt’s ability to lead regional cooperation initiatives in the fields of artificial intelligence and pharmaceutical regulation, and open broad horizons for expanding future partnerships.
