Contrary to Trump’s wishes, representatives approve provisions to maintain the American presence in Europe

Acknowledge The US House of Representatives bill defines Defense Strategy for the year 2026, which includes many provisions aimed at preserving The American presence in Europe, in a move that contradicts recent signals issued by President Donald Trump.
The National Defense Authorization Act, which Congress approves annually with relative consensus between Democrats and Republicans, specifies the areas on which the United States should focus its defense efforts for the following year.
The 2026 version, which exceeds 3,000 pages, recommends a total budget of more than $900 billion, which constitutes an increase of $5 billion over the previous year.
The House of Representatives passed the bill. By a majority of 312 votes compared to 112 votes in opposition.
The bill will be referred to the Senate, which is supposed to approve it before the end of the year.
Preventing a reduction in the number of American forces
The draft law, drafted by Congress, stipulates the continued American presence on European soil, and prevents the Pentagon from reducing the number of American forces deployed in Europe to less than 76,000 soldiers without providing justification to Congress.
This comes days later. The administration of President Donald Trump published a new national security strategy that shifts the United States’ focus to its regional neighbourhood, and portends the collapse of European civilization. The strategy was met with European criticism.
