Imposing a customs duty on small parcels from outside the European Union

An EU spokesperson said: "This fixed duty will remain in effect until a permanent solution is reached regarding the duties that should be imposed on these imports"indicating that the application mechanism begins as of July 1, 2026.

Small parcels from outside the European Union

Italy announced that it will begin application as of January 1, 2026, imposing a fee of (2) euros on each of these small parcels sent from outside Europe.

This measure comes a month after the Union agreed to cancel the customs exemption for parcels whose value is less than (150) euros, which consumers buy directly.
