Al-Wahda reached the final of the Professional League Cup despite losing to Al-Jazira

Al-Jazira stopped the series of positive results for Al-Wahda Club, and achieved a moral victory over them with a free goal, in the second leg of the semi-finals of the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Cup, putting an end to a historic march that extended to 31 official matches without a loss that “Al-Anabi” played in various local and foreign competitions.

Despite this victory, Al Jazira did not succeed in reaching the final match or continuing its journey to defend the title, after it had lost the first leg by three unanswered goals, so Al Wahda decided the qualification in its favor on aggregate of the two matches.

Al-Jazira entered the match with strength and a clear desire to score early, and almost opened the score through Ibrahim Adel, who wasted a valuable opportunity with a clear shot at goal.

“Abu Dhabi Pride” continued its pressure, winning a penalty kick after Al-Wahda goalkeeper, Zayed Al-Amri, obstructed Mamadou Coulibaly inside the area, and Abdullah Ramadan succeeded in converting it into the lead goal in the “15th” minute.

Al-Jazira imposed its advantage in terms of possession during the first half, while Al-Wahda retreated further into its defensive areas, relying on counterattacks that posed a clear threat to Al-Jazira’s goal, amid the brilliance of Al-Jazira’s goalkeeper, Lekovic, who was the undisputed star of the first half, after he blocked three clear chances by Reda Kandipour, Tadic, and Brahima Diarra that were capable of changing the course of the match.

In the second half, the performance was much lower than in the previous half, and play was confined most of the time to the middle of the field, with some timid attempts from both teams that did not constitute any significant move for the goalkeepers.
