3 Americans killed in Syria by ISIS gunman

Three Americans, two soldiers and a civilian, were killed on Saturday in Syria as a result of an “ambush set up by a lone gunman” belonging to the terrorist organization ISIS, according to what the US military command for the Middle East (Centcom) reported.

The command added in a statement that three other American soldiers were injured in the attack, noting that the shooter was killed.

Two local Syrian officials said that unknown assailants opened fire on a joint American-Syrian military patrol in central Syria. Local media reported casualties among American soldiers.

Two Syrian officials told Reuters that a convoy of Syrian and American military forces from the US-led coalition fighting ISIS came under fire on Saturday while patrolling the city of Palmyra in central Syria.

Both officials reported injuries.
