Xabi Alonso focuses on correcting Real Madrid’s course and ignores threats to dismiss him

Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso confirmed that he is focusing more on correcting the team’s path than the controversy surrounding his future.
Alonso enters the match against Alaves, tomorrow, Sunday, in the Spanish League, under intense pressure after two consecutive losses for Real Madrid at home to Celta Vigo and Manchester City.
Real Madrid has only achieved two wins in its last eight matches in all competitions, and Alonso tried to ignore the hype around him to get the team back on the right track.
Alonso said in a press conference before the match, “I always stress that the most important thing for me is the team and the club. An important and difficult match awaits us tomorrow in light of the circumstances we are going through, and our goal is to improve the results.”
He said in statements carried by the British news agency (BA Media): “Because of my long experience in the world of football, I am well aware that dismissal at this stage of the season seems likely among Spanish League clubs.”
He continued, “My impression is that football is always demanding, and I know that the media will focus their work on speculation in the coming period about the dismissal of more coaches, while I focus on more of my work, and I will not put additional burdens on myself.”
Alonso became Real Madrid’s coach coming from Bayer Leverkusen in May, and after 16 matches in the Spanish League, Real Madrid is four points behind its rival, Barcelona, which has the lead.
