Sharjah is crowned champion of the first edition of the West Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship

Sharjah, December 14 / WAM / The Sharjah Women’s Sports Club won the title of the West Asian Women’s Volleyball Club Championship in its first edition after an unbeaten journey.

The team was crowned champion after defeating the Kuwaiti Al-Fatah Club by a score of three games to no return in the final match that was held yesterday at the Khaled Youssef Al-Marzouq Hall at the Salwa Al-Sabah Sports Club in the State of Kuwait.

Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Salwa Al-Sabah Club, crowned the winning teams in the first three places, along with the President of the West Asia Federation and the Qatar Volleyball Federation, Ali Al-Kuwari, and the President of the Volleyball Association, Dr. Jaber Al-Marri. The Saudi Al-Ula Club came in third place after its victory over Al-Nasr of Jordan in the match to determine the third and fourth places in a tournament that witnessed the participation of 12 teams from various Arab countries.

The wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation, congratulated the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club team on this achievement, as Her Highness wrote through her official account, “I congratulate my daughters, the volleyball team, for the well-deserved victory of 3 clean rounds over the Kuwaiti Al-Fatah Club in the West Asian Women’s Club Championship, and for winning the gold medal after being ahead of all the participating teams.” This is what I promised you.”

Her Excellency Hanan Al Mahmoud, Vice President of the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation, confirmed that the team felt a double responsibility during the tournament in light of the direct follow-up and continuous support of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, who was keen to encourage the female players and urge them to persevere, diligently and develop the level in all matches, pointing to the importance of preparing for the eighth edition of the Arab Women’s Club Games, which Sharjah will host in February 2026, in addition to competing in the local league.

For her part, Mai Al Ameri, Deputy Director of the Club, indicated that what the team achieved is the result of integrated work at the technical and administrative levels, praising the high commitment of the female players, stressing that the achievement reflects the culture of winning that has become firmly established within the club.

In turn, team coach Karim Ben Ayyad confirmed that the female players presented an exceptional tournament by all standards, pointing out that the team entered the competitions with a clear mentality and great ambition and succeeded in dealing with all the challenges, especially in the decisive matches.

Her Excellency Moza Al Shamsi, Director of the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation, confirmed that what the players presented reflects an honorable image of Emirati women and their ability to compete and present strongly in regional forums.
