المملكة: The Kingdom: We continue our efforts to enhance maritime navigation security

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated, represented by The General Authority for Transport at the meeting of the extraordinary session of the International Maritime Organization Council in London, and the Kingdom’s delegation was headed by the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to International Maritime Organization "IMO" Engineer Kamal bin Muhammad Al-Junaidi.
In a speech he delivered on behalf of the Kingdom’s delegation participating in the session, Al-Junaidi stressed the Kingdom’s full commitment to the provisions of the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Convention, especially with regard to navigational warnings, areas of search and rescue, ship guidance, and avoiding maritime dangers.
Protecting sea lanes
He explained that the Kingdom stresses the importance of protecting sea lanes, freedom of navigation, and ensuring the stability of energy markets and global supply chains, Indicating that the Kingdom will continue its work as a responsible partner, committed to ensuring maritime safety, preserving lives, and supporting the international system based on law and joint cooperation.
In addition to enhancing international cooperation, the Kingdom affirmed that, through its strategic location and its regional and international role, it will continue and make all efforts to enhance maritime navigation security, by strengthening maritime surveillance, exchanging information, raising preparedness and response to any threats, and facilitating the flow of global trade through safe and stable corridors.
This work comes As an extension of the efforts made by the Kingdom in the Council of the International Maritime Organization as an active member and supporter of international initiatives, the General Transport Authority represents the Kingdom in the Council of the Organization, which continues to activate commitments to joint international agreements and treaties and contribute to international resolution.
